Microsoft Office Communication Server

At Intech Telecom we recognise the heavy investment Microsoft has made to bringing together its application and communications products, enabling customers to take advantage of tangible productivity gains.

The advent of Microsoft Live Communications Server [LCS] paved the way for Microsoft’s entry into the communications market. The simple telephone call, live user presence, instant messaging and point-to-point video have been united into a single application, Microsoft LCS.

After LCS became available Microsoft set to work delivering its next generation communications strategy, Microsoft Office Communications Server [OCS]. In this release the fore mentioned communication types would be accessed from Microsoft’s Office Communicator Desktop Client interface as well as from within Microsoft’s entire range of Business applications.

Microsoft’s latest generation of communications strategy, Microsoft Office Communications Server [OCS] offers the ability to maximise any legacy investment in existing telephone systems so that Office Communicator users can see the presence of telephone system users and visa-versa. Microsoft’s approach in this area is to offer integration to legacy telephone systems via a gateway.

For those considering a technology refresh including desktop handsets, Microsoft delivered a range of handsets with the familiar Microsoft sleek look and feel, as well as being incredibly easy to use. By porting the Office Communicator client from the desktop to the handset, Microsoft offers the ability to easily move between device type. This strategy has also been extended to the mobile handset where the key features of Office Communicator client interface are embedded in newer versions of Windows Mobile.

Another key element of Microsoft’s new hardware range is Round Table, a 360 degree video and audio conferencing interface. By locating the device correctly the device is able to accurately focus in on the person speaking, whilst creating a true 360 degree view of all conference participants. Unlike existing 2 dimensional conferencing technologies, Microsoft goes further, ensuring that all participants feel part of the conference even when not actively contributing.

Microsoft’s unique selling point is true Unified Communication by bringing together communication type, device type and deep application integration from a single vendor.

Intech Telecom are well placed to offer consultancy, implementation and support services for those wishing to look deeper at the features, functions and benefits of Microsoft Office Communications Server.

Without doubt purchasing habits are changing and we are please to offer Microsoft OCS as a capital purchase product or SaaS [Software as a Service]. Saas means you are able to turn on and off various communication and application components as needed.
