SpliceCom Mobile and Homeworking
SpliceCom's maximiser provides identical facilities wherever you may be; in the office, working from home or on the road.
SpliceCom’s maximiser IP PBX (business telephone system) Extension Anywhere feature set allows any maximiser users’ access to extended telephony facilities wherever they may be; in the office, working from home or on the road. Extension Anywhere has been designed to deliver a consistent user “experience” completely independent of handset - analogue, mobile or IP Phones can all be used - and delivery, which can be over traditional PSTN, GSM or IP/VPN services.
GSM/Mobile Extension
The maximiser IP PBX (business telephone system) allows standard GSM/Mobile phones to be used as integrated extensions. Not only can calls be automatically and manually forwarded to any GSM/Mobile phones but, once received a call can be put on hold and then transferred to any on – or off – switch phone.

GSM/Mobile Remote Working
GSM/Mobile Remote Working allows a mobile phone user access to exactly the same facilities they would get from a maximiser IP PBX (business telephone system) system phone. Call control, system directories, busy lamp field/direct station select and messaging are all available by “pairing” the mobile with SpliceCom’s PCS 60 Phone Partner application running on a Windows or Mac OS X laptop or PC. This solution is great for homeworkers, how can use their existing DSL/VPN services. However, with the rise of Wireless based VPN services - such as BT OpenZone – and their proliferation in public places – conference centres, hotels, airports, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. – this is the ideal solution for the mobile workforce. All voice calls are carried across the GSM network, so the VPN service is only used for call control between the PCS 60 application and maximiser. This means that the current lack of any Quality of Service offering on these Wireless VPN solutions – likewise on residential DSL provision - has no effect on voice quality.
Ideal for:
- Mobile Workforce & Homeworkers
Equipment needed:
- GSM/Mobile Phone
- PCS 60 Phone Partner on Windows or Mac OS X .
Services:
- GSM
- Wireless or fixed VPN – QoS not required
Analogue Remote Working
maximiser's unique architecture allows the PCS 60 application to “partner” with the PCS 10 and PCS 5 business phones – or existing analogue home phones. Voice calls are placed across the PSTN network, whilst call control and access to system directories and other facilities is achieved using the PCS 60 on a Windows or Mac OS X across any existing IP VPN/Remote Access data link; DSL, ISDN or even dial-up modem. Because of this QoS is not required on the datalink.
Ideal for:
- Homeworkers & Small Offices
Equipment needed:
- PCS 10, PCS 5 or existing analogue phone
- PCS 60 Phone Partner on Windows or Mac OS X PC or laptop
Services:
- PSTN
- IP/DSL VPN – QoS not required
IP Remote Working
SpliceCom’s PCS 410 and PCS 100s IP Terminals and PCS 60 IP Softphone can all be run as remote extensions across IP/VPN services. In this particular implementation, voice is transmitted across the IP network so QoS provision is considered mandatory.
Ideal for:
- Homeworkers & Small Offices
Equipment needed:
- PCS 410, PCS 100s
- PCS 60 IP Softphone on Windows or Mac OS X PC or laptop
Services:
- IP/DSL VPN – QoS required
Benefits
By using Extension Anywhere companies are provided with several key benefits for mobile and home workers. As no specialist PBX equipment, extension “extenders” or homeworking licenses are required - and existing equipment and services, such as analogue or mobile phones, PC/laptops and VPN/remote access services, can all be retained Implementation costs are kept to a minimum. Using this type of interfacing is completely consistent with an office based PCS extension. All features, including directories, busy lamp field, call transfer, park, etc. are all accessible to remote users. Access to functions like 3-way & rendezvous conferencing, call recording and silent monitor/intrude are also available. Analogue & GSM/Mobile Remote Working both provide guaranteed voice quality as the speech path is routed across the traditional PSTN network. There is no need to deploy higher grade/more expensive DSL services that offer the Quality of Service (QoS), lower contention ratios and low latency that Voice over IP requires for high quality business communications. The data link to the main office is used for call control only and therefore consumes a negligible amount of bandwidth. There is no requirement for QoS on this link.
Extension Anywhere is provided as a standard and integral maximiser feature – no external servers, add on applications or special licenses are required, Call processing for Analogue & GSM/Mobile Remote Working is handled by the maximiser Phone Modules, allowing these solutions to be infinitely scalable - ideal for those organisations looking for large-scale implementations or wishing to grow their homeworking base.
SpliceCom’s maximiser is the PBX that finally delivers on the promise of true geographic independence. The same facilities are available to company employees irrespective of their location; be it in offices spread across countries or continents, working from home or on the road. Yet maximiser appears to employees and customers alike as a single system – and is managed as one through a standard web-browser. For the first time, the ability to utilise technology for real business benefit is available to all companies – irrespective of size.
