What is SIP?

Session Initiation Protocol is a multi-media signaling standard. It allows companies to communicate over IP connections. The logical channel established between them is termed a SIP Trunk.

SIP Trunks enable business's to create a single, IP connection between themselves and their telephone service provider, giving them the ability to make and receive telephone calls and other IP services.

In other words, SIP Trunks enable businesses to make and receive calls over an Internet service.

Features & Benefits of SIP Communications:

PSTN origination/termination

SIP supports origination/termination services directly to the PSTN from IP networks. This enables the business to reduce monthly costs associated with multiple TDM circuits by deploying a single IP pipe to the service provider network.

DDI and 08-Number Mobility

Calls destined to a local or 08 numbers can be automatically rerouted over the SIP network to another business location. This provides a local presence for the business and creates a more efficient service by routing calls to a centralised call centre.

Cost Saving

Installing a SIP network reduces the monthly costs of separate PTSN and data circuits in the business premises.

Speed

For many businesses, competitive advantage is all about speed, and having a network that can be relied on is crucial. A SIP network will provide this speed advantage along with business continuity.
