Inaugural Intech Golf Open
05 May 2009
On a gloriously sunny day in early May Intech Telecom took 20 employees and customers for the inaugural Intech Golf Open held at Canford Magna Golf Club, playing on the Parkland course, a challenging 6,496 yard course of undulating grassland featuring a good combination of both par 3 and par 5 holes. The course was designed by the International Architect Howard Swan, which is evident in the play of this popular 18 hole configuration. Of particular note is its natural habitat being graced with the presence of many species of birds and wildfowl.
The format for the day was an individual stableford competition with three quarters of the handicap allowed. Marcus Chant of Intech Telecom was the holder of The Intech Employee Cup following a massive victory at Royal Winchester and a hot favourite to win this one. As the score cards came in to be marked talk was of a number of a very high score and whilst the fast greens and testing holes had messed with the nerves of a number of players there were a few who had managed to cope with all that the course had thrown at them.
When Intech Telecom MD Ryan Lewington stood up to present the awards, you can imagine the uproar when he announced that the winner with a massive 45 points off a handicap of 28 was none another Intech employee Neil (the bandit) Munslow
In second place with 38 points was Darren Cooper of Peter Cooper VW and Mark Dixon of Hampshire charity Youth Options came in a credible third with 37 points.
